Jericho House (Drugs Recovery) Bank Street ,Greenock is a 18-bed Residential Service Unit (formerly the Bank of Greenock).
Our service users are
Males aged 18 and over with a history of drug dependency. Service-Users must be capable of active participation in the cognitive elements of the programme
We are
An Abstinence-based Recovery project employing both Group-Working and one-to-one sessions and, through our key-working system, are focused on person-centred planning. We have regular reviews (which allow for inter-agency attendance), a Service User Involvement Group, a Family Support Group and Parenting Classes. The programme includes:
- Education (core skills),
- Leisure/Sports Activities
- Complementary Therapies (including our widely acclaimed Drama-based therapy)
A range of counselling methods is used in our person-centered work. Resettlement Support is an important provision of our recovery programme which may extend to six months or more.
We work in partnership with community agencies and we are pleased to offer drugs education to schools.

Attend two assessment sessions and on successful completion are either admitted or put on our waiting list.
Funding
May be made available from the applicant’s Local Authority. This is subject to assessment by their Care Manager. For those on Benefits the funding is made up of a combination of housing costs and funding from the referring agency
Jericho house provides a safe drug/alcohol free environment
Service-Users are expected to participate fully in a structured house programme and to adhere to the House’s Code of Conduct. Further Rules and Regulations are outlined in the Service Agreement.
The following prohibitions are paramount
No illicit drugs or alcohol, no verbal or physical violence, no harassment of any kind.
After care
Jericho House runs a weekly After-Care group. Ex Service Users can access support from Jericho (arranged by appointment). They can continue to attend the Family Support Group. The opportunity to participate in sport and leisure activities is also available. Ex service users are strongly encouraged to attend meetings of Narcotics Anonymous where they receive invaluable on-going support. This allows for self- evaluation of commitment to recovery.

In line with Scotland’s National Strategy ‘The Road to Recovery’, Jericho House is a service which focuses on a drugs-free approach to life through our holistic, individual-needs-based programme.
Outcomes
Priority is emphasised and residents are accountable for building an extensive network of drug free support in the community throughout their time in Jericho. This is to help sustain recovery after moving on. Recommended minimum stay is six months, extendable according to individual need.
Jericho has facilitated a Family Support Group in Port Glasgow Town Hall meeting weekly on a Monday evening from 7:30pm to 9:30pm since 2003. Average attendance is between 35 and 40 and is facilitated by Margaret Diamond who devised the unique model that has supported hundreds of addicts’ friends and family members over the years. This group is open to anyone affected by addiction.
Outcomes are measured on achieving continuous total abstinence from all drugs including alcohol. Ex-Residents go on to manage their own tenancy, engage in voluntary work, full time further education or paid employment becoming productive members of society. Over the nine years Jericho has been serving the community, outcomes have been between 42% and 69%.
